Tata Group Partners Tesla for Supply of Components, Services, Elon Musk, Donald Trump

There has been an international agreement for the supply of components and services between the Tesla and Tata Group companies involved in the large electric vehicle (EV) companies. Under this, many Tata Group companies will be part of the US Tesla supply chain. Tesla is also set to start business soon in India.

A media Report According to, this agreement includes Tata Group's Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Technologies, Tata Autocomp and Tata Electronics. These companies will provide services and components to Tesla. This company of Billionaire Elon Musk has started talks with Indian suppliers. This report quoted a source as saying that Tesla is preparing the base of its suppliers in the country. However, this company has not confirmed its manufacturing plan. It is interacting with states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra to set up EV factory.

The company's first showroom in India may open at Brandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The company has taken a space of about 4,000 square feet in BKC's Maker Maxity Building. For this, a securities deposit of about 2.11 crore rupees has been given. The fare of this space will be Rs 35.26 lakh per month. In the second half of this year, Tesla can start business in the country. Tesla's head Elon Musk held a meeting with him during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US last month. Initially the company may import EV from its factory in Berlin, Germany.

The central government is working on a new policy to promote the manufacturing of EV in the country. In March last year, the government reduced custom duty to 15 percent on the import of EV with special conditions. In the new EV policy, the turnover may be required to be taken to Rs 2,500 crore within the second year of car makers for car makers. Along with this, the government can increase import duty exemption. There was a need to invest a minimum of Rs 4,150 crore to start manufacturing in the policy introduced last year. Manufacturing was to be started within three years. The new EV policy can be announced soon.
