Maharashtra News: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale protested on the Maharashtra government's move to draf the law to stop 'Love Jihad' on Sunday (February 16). The Maharashtra government has issued a government resolution, stating that a committee headed by Director General of Police (DGP) will suggest steps to deal with 'Love Jihad' and forced conversion complaints.

This committee will also consider legal aspects and laws made in other states and recommend making laws to prevent such incidents. Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Athawale told reporters, “It is wrong to call inter-religious marriage as love jihad. There should be a provision to stop conversion. Steps should be taken to prevent social and religious harmony from spoiling social and religious harmony.”
