Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Defended Ajit Pawar Statement on Farmer Loan Waiver

Maharashtra News: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was seen defending the comment of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on crop loan waiver on Saturday (March 29). CM Fadnavis said that he (Ajit Pawar) has taken the stand of the government.

In fact, NCP chief Ajit Pawar said at an event at Baramati, Pune on Friday (March 28) that the current financial condition of the state does not allow crop loan waiver. He had asked the farmers to pay the installments on time instead of waiting for the announcement in this regard.

'Farmers should pay installments before 31 March'
Finance Minister Ajit Pawar in Devendra Fadnavis government had said, “Someone can show off other things, but not financial reality. The election manifesto promised crop loan waiver. But today I want to tell the farmers to tell the farmers to pay their crop loan installment before March 31. Some farmers are not paying the installment of their loan.

'Government will take decision at the right time'
The Deputy Chief Minister had also said in Baramati that the state government will take a decision at the right time. He reiterated that the current financial condition does not allow crop loan waiver. At the same time, CM Devendra Fadnavis asked about Ajit Pawar's comments that he has told the situation of the government. The Chief Minister said, “He never said that this (crop loan waiver) will never be done.” Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told reporters in Pune that the government will fulfill all the promises made in the election manifesto.
