According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, bacteria developing resistance against antibiotics are becoming challenges in today's time. Every about 28 million people in the US come under the help of antibiotic resistant infections and about 35,000 of them die. Now researchers at the Panelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, USA, have designed a new antibiotic molecule from the poison of an wasp.
American scientists have developed antimicrobial molecules from its poison that will eliminate bacteria that are not affecting the drugs. The University of Pennsylvania, USA, which prepares molecules, says that the drug prepared will treat Dangerous bacteria of TB and sepsis.
The option of medicine being ineffective on bacteria-
According to the published research at the National Academy of Sciences Journal, scientists made a small part of the protein from the poison of Asian, Korean and Vespula wasp. Due to the change, the ability to eliminate bacteria in the drug molecule has increased on which drugs are proving to be ineffective. Antibiotics present on bacteria that cause these diseases are not working.
Study done on rats-
The study conducted on the rat revealed that the bacteria that were not affected by the drug were affected. Scientists say, currently there is a need for new antibiotics that can eliminate the bacteria that is not destroyed by the drug as such infection cases are increasing. We feel that the molecules coming out of the poison will work as new types of antibiotics.
Such a drug prepared-
According to research, the mastoparan-el peptide has been separated from the poison of the wasp. It is quite poisonous for humans and increases the level of blood pressure, which makes the condition of humans critical. By reducing this effect, it was made so much change that it should do poison work for bacteria. How safe it is for humans, there is yet to be a clinical trial.
Uses on these bacteria-
Scientists tried the drug on the e-cooli and staphylococcus bacteria present in the rat. 80 percent of the rats lived alive during the new drug testing. But the mice that were given more quantity of this medicine showed side effects. Research has claimed that this drug may prove to be an alternative to gentamaysin and ompanem as drug -resistant bacteria are increasing. Researchers hope that they will be able to create more antibiotic molecules with such poison and can make new types of effective drugs.
